Whilst every care has been taken by the organising committee and relevant landowners in facilitating these events, the committee and landowners will not be responsible for any injury to any person taking part in any way whatsoever in the event, and not liable for and damage resulting from any acts or omissions of any participants or spectators. It is the responsibility of those taking part, or their legal guardians in the case of minors, to ensure that participants have appropriate and adequate insurance cover for personal injury and third party cover and that they take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safe participation in the events. In particular in relation to equestrian events, they are advised to ensure both they and their mount are both suitable and competent and that riders wear appropriate protective clothing, including approved headgear. Please note that the organising committee reserve the right to refuse any person from participating in the event. Please follow instructions from foot Stewards and mounted Marshalls. Safety of spectators, riders and horses is paramount.

 

Lauder Common Riding would like your help and assistance regarding spectator safety and car parking in and around the Burgh during Lauder Common Riding.

Wednesday, Fancy Dress Parade -  No vehicles parked in The Avenue, Mid Row, Market Place and West High Street (except in lay-bys off A68).

Thursday, Preliminary Ride – No vehicles parked in The Avenue until after horses depart at 6.15 p.m.

Saturday – No vehicles parked in Mid Row, Market Place, West High Street, The Loan, The Row, Lower Back Road and Mill Wynd. All these areas will be marked with cones. At the Waterin’ Stane vehicles are requested to park in designated areas under the supervision of Stewards.

Respect must be shown to all riders and pedestrians. Spectators are asked to stand a safe distance from the cavalcade at all times and do not try to cross the path of any horses. In event of any problem or emergency please immediately notify the nearest foot Steward or mounted Marshall.

Please help keep Lauderdale tidy.  Any litter should be deposited in the nearest bin or taken home.
